Who we are
This newsletter is published by Hazlehurst Hughes Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 15454450, registered office Cambridge House, 32 Padwell Road, Southampton, England, SO14 6QZ. We are the data controller for the personal information described below.

What we collect
When you subscribe, we collect:
- your email address
- your first name, if you choose to give it
- the regions and property types you tell us you are interested in, so we can send you relevant editions
- the date and time you subscribed, and a record that you agreed to receive the newsletter
When we send you an edition, our email provider records:
- whether the email was delivered, opened, or a link in it was clicked
- your approximate location and device type, derived from your IP address
We do not ask for, or want, any other information about you.
Why we collect it
We use your email address to send you the newsletter you asked for. We use your stated preferences to decide which editions are relevant to you. We use delivery and engagement information to check the newsletter is arriving and to remove addresses that no longer work.
Our lawful basis is your consent, which you gave when you subscribed. You can withdraw it at any time, and doing so is easy and free (see below).
Who we share it with
We use Kit (Kit.com, operated by ConvertKit LLC in the United States) to manage the subscriber list and send the newsletter. We use ImprovMX to forward email sent to our own addresses, so anything you send us passes through their service. Both process your information on our instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes.
Because these providers are based outside the United Kingdom, your information is transferred abroad. Those transfers are covered by the safeguards required under UK data protection law, which for Kit means the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else for marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep your details for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal record of your email address and the fact that you unsubscribed, so that we do not accidentally add you again. If you would rather we deleted that too, ask us and we will.
Unsubscribing
Every edition carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list, with no questions and no delay. You can also email admin@distressed-properties.com and we will remove you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what information we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- have inaccurate information corrected
- have your information deleted
- object to how we are using it, or ask us to restrict what we do with it
- withdraw your consent at any time
- ask us to transfer your information to another service
To use any of these, email admin@distressed-properties.com. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
Cookies
Our sign-up page is hosted by Kit, which sets cookies necessary to make the form work and to record that you subscribed. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.
About the information in the newsletter
The newsletter reports insolvency events published in The Gazette, the UK’s official public record, together with property title information from HM Land Registry. It is compiled from public sources.
It is general information, not professional advice, and should be independently verified before you act on it. Property and company data is a snapshot taken at the time of publication and may be out of date by the time you read it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will say so in an edition of the newsletter and update the date at the top.
